The town of Arbroath is situated around 15 miles east of the city of Dundee on the shores of the Firth of Tay. Arbroath is a traditional fishing port although a marina has recently been constructed to encourage pleasure crafts. Arbroath is best known for its fish known as “Arbroath Smokies” which is haddock browned and flavoured by smoke on an oak fire. Arbroath also has a large caravan site attracting tourists to the area with one of the main attractions being Arbroath Abbey dating back to 1233.
