A Post Office which has been under the same ownership for 17 years has been sold by Bruce & Co.
Inveraray Post Office and Store in Inveraray, Argyll and Bute has been under the ownership of a husband and wife team since 1996, and will be taken over by a buyer from Suffolk, England. This is the second business that Bruce & Co has sold to an English buyer with a month: The company recently sold a Stranraer restaurant to a buyer from Essex.
The post office has an excellent reputation and stocks greetings cards, a wide range of stationery, postcards, books, quality gifts and crafts as well as souvenirs to cater for the many tourists that frequent the shop. The two position post office counter has a full security screen, parcel hatch and all the usual services behind. Ancillary sales have been incorporated into the business, although there is scope for the new owners to increase this sector further.
Inveraray, on the shores of Loch Fyne, is the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Argyll and is one of Scotland’s most beautiful historic towns.
Bruce & Co’s Andrew Dodd commented: “We are seeing more and more interest from buyers south of the border seeking the lifestyle change that a move to Scotland can offer. Post Offices are popular as a lifestyle business as they form an integral part of the community. The sale of Inveraray Post Office and Store offered a fantastic opportunity to purchase a thriving business in a stunning trading location, and we wish both parties all the very best.”
