Dickies Bar Sells Through Bruce & Co. in just 2 Months

Bruce & Co. are delighted to announce the sale of Dickies Bar, a popular local public house located in the Scottish Borders.

Dickies Bar has been under the caring ownership of the sellers, Mr and Mrs Leslie, for over 33 years – with the bar being established for even longer. Under the watchful eye of our clients, the bar has become an integral part of the local community and thus benefits from an extensive loyal customer base. In addition to attracting repeated trade, predominately from within the local community, as the bar is located in a tourist catchment area it also benefits from attracting new custom from tourists.

The business premises occupies the ground floor of a traditional end terraced property, dating back to 1806.  The building is of stone appearance with traditional frontage and is presented very well. Revenue is currently derived from wet sales only and, despite this already being a profitable and successful business, there is scope for the new owner to increase turnover by introducing food sales.

Despite the success of the business, after many years of hard work, the clients decided to place the business on the market to retire. Sale completion only took two months, with the offer being made in December, 2014. The business was sold to an independent purchaser for £350,000.

Jayne Adamson, Sales Manager at Bruce & Co., commented “We are really pleased that we have come to a successful completion. We wish Mr and Mrs Leslie all the best with their retirement, and also wish the new buyer all the best with the future of Dickies Bar.”
