The Morar Hotel is an attractive hotel with a friendly atmosphere on the romantic “Road to the Isles”, 3 miles from Mallaig, the Southern Gateway to the Isle of Skye. The hotel commands breathtaking views of the famous Silver Sands of Morar and the Inner Hebridean islands of Rum & Eigg. Morar is one of the most beautiful and historic districts in the Western Highlands comprising a magnificent combination of mountains, moors & lochs, with close proximity to the sea. Traditionally, Morar was at the centre of An Garbh Chriochan, the Roughbounds of the Highlands until 1901 when the construction of the famed West Highland Line was completed.
The Morar offers true Scottish Highland hospitality. The hotel features 32 bedrooms – all with colour TV, private bathrooms & tea making facilities.
Built in 1902, the Morar hotel is a well-established and popular hotel which had been run by Ms Ryan since 2006. During its ‘quiet’ history, the hotel has seen just 4 owners and has a long tradition of being a family run hotel. This is reflected in the ambience of the hotel, offering guests a ‘feel at home’ stay. The business comes equipped with an excellent restaurant, and a well-stocked bar where guests can unwind and relax after dinner, or after a day of exploring the local area. There is an additional function room which can accommodate 80-160 evening guests – all of which enjoy panoramic views. These characteristics alone made the business an attractive prospect, and raised high levels of interest with 40 people viewing the property.
The sale of the business, which was purchased by Mr Sherwood, took just 3 months – with the freehold opportunity completing for £400,000.
