Bruce & Co. are delighted to announce the sale of Fox’s; a well-established grocers and takeaway set in Grindlay Street, in Edinburgh. Fox’s is an extremely busy business which has been run by the vendor Mr Fox, for many years – having been operated within the family since 1966. Grindlay Street is situated well within the heart of the city, and the business is surrounded by both commercial and residential properties, whilst also benefitting from ample street parking.
Fox’s offers a wide selection of general groceries, wines, spirits, cigarettes, along with traditional sweets and confectionery. In addition to this, Fox’s also offers a good selection of hot and cold filled rolls – which is popular amongst residents within the area. Having operated within the locality successfully, the business was brought to the market due to Mr Fox’s wish to retire.
The property comprises a terraced, lock-up unit. The front of the property is straight to street, with a traditional frontage. On entering the premises, there is a service counter with a chilled glass display. To the rear, there is a large kitchen area and WC facilities. In addition to this, the property also owns part of the gardens to the rear.
Once on the market, following six viewings and three offers, the business was sold to Mr Chapman on a freehold basis for £100,000 which was bank funded. Mr Chapman’s background is in accounting; and so this will undoubtedly benefit the future growth of the business.
The sale went through smoothly, and no problems were encountered. Regarding the service Mr Chapman received at Bruce & Co., he comments, “Bruce and Co. worked very well and very effectively.”
The vendor, Mr Fox was also pleased with the service from Bruce & Co., stating that he was updated at all times throughout the sale, and that he would recommend Bruce & Co. to others.
Safa Sultan, Sales Negotiator at Bruce & Co., states “I’m pleased that we have managed to secure a deal for Mr Fox. It was lovely working with him, and I wish both parties all the best for the future.”
