Award Winning Fish Restaurant Sold in Gourdon, Aberdeenshire

Bruce & Co. are delighted to announce the sale of Hornblowers; a multi award winning fish restaurant and takeaway which offers a delicious menu supplied directly from the Gourdon Harbour.

The business trades throughout the year and benefits from a good mix of local diners and tourists. It enjoys much repeat custom; particularly due to its excellent location – being 30 minutes from Aberdeen and 10 miles from Montrose and Stonehaven.

Hornblowers was featured on Channel 5’s programme, ‘Marcos Kitchen Wars’ in 2012, where Marco Pierre White himself described the food as ‘The best fish and chips he has tasted’. The business has won several awards, including the Regional Winner of the Scottish Thistle Awards ‘Best Informal Eating Experience 2014-15’, and ‘Best Chippy Chips in Scotland’ from the Potato Council 2015. Further to this, Hornblowers has received a Certificate of Excellence, whilst also achieving 4.5 stars from Trip Advisor.

Operated by Mr and Mrs Graham successfully since 2011; they decided to sell the business to pursue other interests.

The restaurant occupies a large two-storey, traditionally built detached building on the harbour Quay. The property offers uninterrupted views over the harbour from seven large floor to ceiling windows.

The restaurant came fully equipped throughout, with everything needed to run a business of this nature.

Following 2 viewings, the business was acquired by an experienced business operator on a leasehold basis. The location was cited as the key reason for the buyer to acquire the business.

Jayne Adamson, Sales Manager at Bruce & Co. commented “The sale of Hornblowers offered a rare opportunity to purchase a high quality, beautifully presented business, which was trading well, but with potential for expansion. I am happy that we have managed to come to the end of a successful completion. I wish Mr and Mrs Graham all the best with their other interests, and wish the new buyer the best of luck in their new venture.”
