Vendors of Muchelney Cattery Set to Retire and Relocate!

Redwoods Dowling Kerr are pleased to announce the sale of Muchelney Cattery located in Langport, Somerset.
The cattery has been run by the vendors Mr and Mrs Jackson for seven years, during which time, the business has acquired a truly enviable reputation within the sector for providing the highest possible standards of care. Subsequently, the cattery has enjoyed an extensive and loyal customer base with frequent referrals and recommendations. Registered for forty cats; the cattery has consistently benefited from high occupancy levels.
The business is situated in an ideal location for customers travelling to and from the two nearest airports and commuter routes. The business also attracts customers from much further away due to its impeccable reputation. Despite the success of the business, Mr and Mrs Jackson decided to sell the business due to their wish to retire.

Muchelney Cattery incorporates purpose built cattery facilities; including immaculately clean comfortable living areas. There are twenty pens set in peaceful and tranquil surroundings with stunning easterly views from each. These provide safe, warm and secure environment for the cats. Additionally, there are three separate isolation/breeding pens set away from the main cattery area.
The sale of the business also came with a beautiful three bedroom detached period property – with planning approval for a two storey extension. The property as a whole is very modern and immaculately decorated throughout, but still has the feel of a rural house. There are two private garden areas; one to the rear of the main building with a grassed area and three storage facilities (one used as food storage for the cattery), and a smaller private paved garden area to the side of the property. The house also incorporates a recently refurbished and modern kitchen, dining room and a lounge area.

This sale of Muchelney Cattery therefore provided a fantastic business lifestyle opportunity; developing the business from its current established reputation. As the cattery grounds are extremely spacious; the business provids an obvious opportunity to add additional pens, whilst having the option of incorporating between two and four stables. Another option would be to add a small shop or a grooming parlour, as the facilities are already in placed to do this.

Once on the market, following two viewings, the business was sold to Mrs Emery on a freehold basis for £450,000. Mrs Emery is a first time buyer with extensive experience of working within a cattery – having worked in catteries for twenty two years. The business was funded through the sale of Mrs Emery’s original house.

Now that the sale has completed, Mr and Mrs Jackson can now retire, and are looking to re-locate.
Karrina Lee, Sales Negotiator at Redwoods Dowling Kerr commented, “I am pleased to have come to a successful completion and wish both parties every success for the future.”
