Redwoods Dowling Kerr Sell Multimillion Pound Childcare Group to International Investors

Redwoods Dowling Kerr is delighted to announce the sale of Bambinos, a group of four nurseries based in Plymouth, Devon. The group of nurseries sold to international investors from China, making it one of the first deals of its kind in the industry.

Redwoods Dowling Kerr contacted the owners of Bambinos Day Nursery, Mr and Mrs Lane who wished to discuss the sale of their group of four nurseries. After spending the last 20 years building and developing their businesses, the couple wanted to enjoy their success and were looking ahead to retirement.

As the UK’s leading sales broker in the childcare industry, Redwoods Dowling Kerr generated a lot of interest for Bambinos Day Nursery. The group of nurseries received a total of five viewings from different parties, which resulted in two offers being put forward for the business.

Redwoods Dowling Kerr was confident that the business would generate a healthy amount of interest, as each of the nurseries are well-established, with fantastic reputations and were situated in ideal locations.

Mr and Mrs Lane were delighted to receive two offers from interested parties. After careful consideration, they decided to accept an offer from London Thames Capital, who were working on behalf of an overseas investor from China.

London Thames Capital is a renowned business consulting firm that specialises in the education sector based in Mayfair, London. They hold strong relationships with associates from China, with a vision to promote business collaboration between the UK and China. Once communications between Redwoods Dowling Kerr and London Thames Capital were underway, it became clear that Bambinos Day Nursery was an ideal purchase for their clients.

Mr and Mrs Lane were more than happy to pass their legacy on to prestigious overseas buyers, who in turn were delighted to have a foothold in the UK childcare market in the form of an extremely strong nursery brand.

Established since 1998, Bambinos Day Nursery has earned an excellent reputation in the south of England. All four nurseries operate very successfully, offering the highest quality of childcare, as well as being in densely populated areas, with easy access to and from main roads and public transport links. The recipe for each of the nurseries on-going success is clear to see and the key reason such a high price and international interest were achieved.

When combined, the group of nurseries are registered for an impressive 279 children in total and operate from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm all year round, excluding bank holidays. The business is supported by a dedicated and qualified team of early years practitioners, who pride themselves on providing high standards of childcare and development. The new owners are now looking forward to implementing their ethos and brand between China and the UK.

The sellers, Mr and Mrs Lane commented on their experience saying that; “We would like to thank you for your help along the way Sarah and for introducing us to the Chinese investors. We wish them every success for the future with the Bambinos brand.”

The buyers commented on their experience saying that; “I would like to say a great thank you for your help and patience during the long process, we would like to purchase more through Redwoods Dowling Kerr in the future.”

Sarah Ellison, Senior Childcare Negotiator; “The owners of Bambinos Day Nursery made a life-changing decision to sell all four of their childcare settings. Mr and Mrs Lane wished to retire and in doing so needed an exit strategy that would allow them to follow their next steps in life. Each of the large nurseries are positioned within Plymouth, allowing the new owners to work with an established chain, with a renowned local reputation to start their UK brand. Mr and Mrs Lane were very pleased to have two offers from known nursery operators but chose to work with London Thames Capital and their overseas investor, as they felt confident that their brand will be continued and grown with more successful years to come. I would like to wish Alison and Bill all the best with their plans.”
