Tommies Childcare acquires 8th setting via RDK

Tommies Childcare have expanded into the East Midlands following the sale of a children’s day nursery in Derby.

The sale marks Tommies Childcare’s 8th acquisition, and their most recent to be brokered by Redwoods Dowling Kerr.

The children’s day nursery has consistently been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted since 2007. With a capacity for 36 children, the new owners intend to build on the success of the business by introducing a fresh ethos and expanding the number of places to compete with their settings in Coventry, Kenilworth and Nuneaton.

In a testimonial, the vendor, who wished to remain anonymous, said:

“I just wanted to say how wonderful Sarah Ellison has been during the sale. Ever since she started the file she has been a ray of sunshine and positivity. She has made the journey (which has been longer than at first anticipated) a pleasant and indeed, at times, an enjoyable one.

“She has always given us the impression that we were the most important client and seemed somehow to always be available when we needed her. She has been very flexible in her approach and tenacious in working in our best interests. This hasn’t meant that she’s always told us what we wanted to hear, but always what we needed to hear.

“We would fully recommend Redwoods Dowling Kerr and Sarah Ellison to anyone selling a nursery. Throughout this, Sarah Ellison has remained the voice of reason and a wonderfully transparent insulation. This has made the process a lot more bearable as there was a lot of work to be done.

“The customer service has been equal to any 5-star hotel or award-winning restaurant – absolutely amazing (and extremely rare now) – Thank you Sarah Ellison.”

Senior Sales negotiator Sarah Ellison said:

“The sellers were approached by many different interested parties, but Tommies Childcare stood out to them for their knowledge and professionalism in the sector.

“It was a pleasure to work with Tommies Childcare to aid them in purchasing another setting to their award-winning group and we wish them all the best with their new acquisition.”
