Benington Nursery is Now Under New Ownership

Redwoods Dowling Kerr have successfully sold an acclaimed children’s day nursery in Hertfordshire.

Benington Nursery has been established by our vendor, Cheryl Latham, for over 11 years. It has been providing excellent levels of childcare within the Hertfordshire region ever since its inception.

The vendor recognised the need for high-quality childcare within the local area, and they formed the business to supply to the growing demand.

Benington Nursery has a current capacity for 22 children aged between 2 to 5 years, and has always been supported by a robust organisational structure, and a cohort of experienced and knowledgeable early years practitioners in place.

Since the creation of the business, this high-quality childcare setting has commandingly positioned itself as one of the best childcare providers in the Hertfordshire region.

This established reputation has resulted in the nursery becoming a regularly recommended choice for parents from not only the local area, but also for those who commute to the nursery from surrounding areas.

The nursery promotes structured learning through play in a caring, safe and friendly environment. This ethos is at the very core of this setting.

Benington’s director has developed a significant amount of experience operating the childcare setting, and this is evident in the high standards of care that their nursery is renowned for.

Benefitting greatly from the expert ownership and direction of the previous vendor, Cheryl Latham, the nursery has received a significant amount of reinvestment, evolving it into the top tier nursery that it is today.

After 11 years of operating at the pinnacle of the childcare sector, Cheryl, ultimately decided it was time to take a step back and retire from the sector. She felt that she had achieved everything that she set out to with this comprehensive setting.

Also, her desire to pursue other business interests outside of the childcare sector influenced her decision.

Cheryl commissioned the professional team at Redwoods Dowling Kerr with the task of placing this unique childcare business onto the market and the team at RDK were privileged to do so.

Once on the market, this highly desirable business swiftly sold. It was acquired by the new owners after just 3 viewings and 2 competitive offers.

This comprehensive childcare setting was ultimately acquired by Kent Atkinson, who is the director of a group of 2 established and successful children’s day nurseries already.

Kent has been established in the childcare sector for over 15 years and has consolidated a longstanding reputation. He had the additional benefit of over 20 years of experience

The buyer is familiar with the Redwoods Dowling Kerr brand. As a returning client, Kent was more than happy to use the services of Redwoods Dowling Kerr again.

He was greatly impressed by the professionalism and efficiency of the team and entrusted them to find him another high-quality setting.

Kent felt Benington Nursery was the ideal setting to incorporate into his expanding group of nurseries. He aims to continue to operate the nursery at a high standard.

The buyer commented;

“I had an excellent experience purchasing a nursery with Redwoods Dowling Kerr. From sourcing the nursery, viewing the business, meeting the vendor, Ofsted registration, contract exchange and finally completion, Kim and her team were with me every step of the way.”

“Kim was always available, always professional and I could not recommend her and the whole team at Redwoods Dowling Kerr enough.”

“Not only did Kim guide me through the many complicated steps of the purchase, but she also recommended excellent solicitors and finance brokers who have been invaluable to the successful completion of our purchase.”

“The acquisition took many months to finalise, due to delays with Ofsted and some complex conveyancing; so, I am elated to have finally completed the purchase of my second nursery.”

“I am already looking forward to acquiring a third setting by using the excellent services of Redwoods Dowling Kerr. Thank you, Kim.”

Lead Negotiator Kim Emsley commented;

“From my very first conversation with Cheryl, on my introductory phone call, I knew she was going to be a pleasure to work with.”

“At every step of the way, she has been very helpful and easy to speak to. It really has been a pleasure to have Cheryl as one of my vendors, and it will feel strange not speaking with her anymore. I wish her all the best moving forward.”

“I also want to thank Kent for working tirelessly on his purchase. He was always there to ensure that things progressed. He too has been a pleasure to deal with, both during his previous acquisition and also on his most recent purchase.”

“Also, I am very much looking forward to working with him in the future. I have no doubt that Kent will continue his incredible success within the childcare sector.”
