Busy Bees acquires Squiggles Childcare Limited thanks to Redwoods Dowling Kerr

This desirable childcare setting is now under new ownership.

Resulting from the completion of a project that launched on the 13th of June 2019, one of the UK’s leading childcare providers has announced its acquisition of Squiggles Childcare Limited, a substantial setting based in Sevenoaks.

Squiggles provides early years care to children aged from 0-5 years. The sale, brokered by Redwoods Dowling Kerr, sees Busy Bees acquire the setting located on London Road in Riverhead, Sevenoaks, which offers places for up to 93 children.

The family-run nursery operated by mother and daughter pair Jackie and Claire, features a large outdoor play area and cares for children between the hours of 8am to 6pm.

After a highly competitive bidding process, Squiggles Childcare’s sale was agreed on the 26th of July 2019, and ultimately acquired by the chosen purchaser Busy Bees.

Following on from the acquisition on the 29th of January 2020, Busy Bees now cares for more than 35,000 children across 379 nurseries in the UK and Ireland.

Recent expansions overseas bring its total to 50,000 children across more than 500 nurseries in the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, Ireland, Italy, America, Vietnam and Australia.

The Vendor, Jackie Hedges, commented;

“We have thoroughly enjoyed caring for all the children over the years and working alongside our dedicated and caring team. Busy Bees share our mission to ensure every child’s happiness, wellbeing and progress is prioritised. I am in no doubt that Squiggles is in safe hands and we wish them all the very best for the future.”

The Buyer, Europe CEO of Busy Bees Cheryl Creaser commented;

“The love and attention Jackie and Claire have put into the setting is clear to see. The team provide exceptional care day-in-day-out and their mission to provide children with a calm, safe and happy environment perfectly aligns with our own. It’s our pleasure to welcome Squiggles parents, children and staff to the Busy Bees family. Working together, we believe that our combined insight and expertise will help us to build on the team’s success.”

Director of Childcare Jenna Caldwell commented;

“It has been a great pleasure to assist both Jackie and her daughter Claire with the sale of their exemplary nursery. It was a hard decision for them to sell as they started the nursery together back in 2007 but ultimately, they knew that now was the best time to sell.”

“Due to quality of the nursery, I knew that there would be significant interest from a broad range of buyers, and this was later proved with all parties submitting an offer after viewing. The offers resulted in a price being achieved substantially in excess of the vendors original expectations with the chosen buyer being one of the UK’s leading childcare providers Busy Bees Holdings Limited which will also be their third acquisition with RDK within the last 4 months.”

“I hope that Jackie and Claire can now enjoy the fruits of their hard labour and Busy Bees all the best with their latest acquisition.”
